The Pass III®
survey evaluates applicant attitudes toward work ethic, reliability,
honesty, and drug and alcohol use. There are six sections to review:
Alianation Index, Trustworthiness, Drug Attitudes, Overall Score,
Follow-up Questions, and Notes. Answers result in one of four categories:
False Positive, meaning the applicant has tried to game the system, High,
Moderate, and Low risk. Hiring candidates of Low Risk, will help you hire
the best employees. Follow-up questions are asked when applicants answered
a question incorrectly. They will help you evaluate the reason for their
answer. | ||||

This applicant achieved a total score of 19. A total score of less than 5 is a false positive. A total score of more than 30 represents a very high risk candidate. A score between 5 and 15 is an ideal candidate. These candidates will be the best employees. This candidate scored a final rating of Morerate Risk. Proceed with caution. | |||||

This applicant scored a 3 in the Alienation Index. An Alienation Index of 3 is considered a Low Risk. A person who scores high (over 9), in this area will be difficult to supervise and not as likely to get along with others including customers. | |||||
| III. Trustworthiness |

This applicant scored a 11 in Trustworthiness. A Trustworthiness score of 11 is considered a Moderate Risk. A person who scores high (over 16), in this area will be less trustworthy and more likely to be a shortage problem and add to your worker compensation costs. | |||||

This applicant scored a 1 in the Drug Attitudes index. A Drug Attitudes score of 1 is considered a Low Risk. A person who scores high (over 5), in this area will be more likely to have drinking or drug problems that adversely effect their work. | |||||
| V. Answers to Follow-up Questions | |||||
| Follow-up questions are asked to applicants who answered a survey question incorrectly. The questions will help you understand another dimension of the applicant profile. | |||||
| Question: Why do you feel it is more important to be loyal to fellow workers than to your employer? | Answer: It is all about the people. If you are not loyal to your friends, nothing else matters. |
| Question: Give me an example of a time when you observed an employee commit a dishonest act. What did you do? | Answer: I didn't do anything. I was too scared. |
| Question: Which drugs do you think are not harmful? | Answer: Prescription drugs provided by a doctor. |
| Question: Why do you feel drinking is more harmful than using marijuana? | Answer: Because my father was an alcoholic and it was bad for our family. |
| Question: Give me an example of a time when you felt under paid for the work you did? How much were you paid? | Answer: I was paid 5.50 an hour. It was hard work outdoors and was minimum wage. |
| Question: What makes you feel that there is no job security? | Answer: I haven't been able to keep a job for more than a year. |
| Question: Why do you feel that people who admit to stealing should be punished less than those who don`t? | Answer: Because they were honest enough to turn themselves in. |
| Question: How easy do you think it would be for a person to change and not steal again? | Answer: I think it is possible for anyone to change as long as they are committed to the change. |
| Question: How do you feel about a person who gets caught and turns in others who were also involved? | Answer: I don't want to get involved in other people's business. |
